My diamond fascination started when I was a young boy growing up in Congo.

I met many diamantaires going off buying diamonds and geologists searching for kimberlites ‘diamond source rock’ deep in the remote rain forest. The sense of adventure and not knowing what one may find along the way and hearing their exciting stories when they returned fascinsated me.

After university I trained as a diamond sorter with De Beers and then learnt how to look for diamonds in the field taking samples and setting up processing laboratories to look for diamonds and kimberlitic diamond indicators.

The last 22 years has brought me to many remote places in Congo, Zambia, Madagascar, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Comores, Myanmar, Russia as well as the Scandinavian arctic circle looking for both minerals and gemstones. It’s been an interesting journey so far giving me a taste of adventure and meeting many interesting characters, seeing very beautiful unspoilt remote places as well as having many wonderful and crazy experiences along the way. Humbling experience and very grateful for the journey so far and looking fwd to many more ahead.
