Diamond Prices

The Diamond market base their prices mainly from the Rapaport price list that comes out every Thursday as a guideline in US dollars shown in the table below. Most dealers in the market use this as standard to base their prices.

As the price list shows specific size brackets are separately priced. As size increase the prices jump up. Therefor if a person wants a 1 carat diamond I always advise them to reduce a few points jumping down to the lower price category which would be 0.90-0.99 cts as the first set of red circles above show cost a lot less than the 1.00-1.99 ct price list. For example, on the above dated price list a 1 ct D, flawless diamond is priced at $21,600 (pct) per carat but for 0.99ct only 1 point below would be valued at $14,500 pct. This difference increases as the stones gets larger as the second set of red circles show; a 5ct Flawless diamond is listed at $133,500 pct compared to a 4.99 carat at $98,000 pct a difference of $35,500 per carat just by reducing the size by a few points.
